Youth volunteer opportunity

Great Oak Foods organic and local community shop is working with PAVO to provide youth opportunities in a retail environment. The shop was established 12 years ago and last year expanded into new, larger premises at 14 Great Oak street. Alongside fruit and vegetables the shop has been steadily increasing its range of Welsh and organic cheese, wine, beer and cider. The new premises have enabled the shop to increase their selection of locally grown plants for sale and these can be found in the courtyard at the rear of the shop. January 2015 will see the launch of a community kitchen and classroom on the first floor.
Youths (14-24 years old) can volunteer to do shop work, packing veg boxes, developing the plant sales area and preparing food in the community kitchen. There will be a series of three ‘cook, eat, share’ workshops on the 4th Monday of each Month, the first being held on 26th January. These are an opportunity to learn new kitchen skills whilst preparing and cooking a meal to share.
To start volunteering and/or to enrol on the cooking workshops please contact the shop manager.
